Norma Lane was an EMT for the Putnam County Ambulance District. On October 10, 1997, she was called to transport a patient from Putnam County Memorial Hospital to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. While en route, she was involved in a life-threatening motor vehicle accident. She was transported to Putnam Memorial by her co-workers, where it was later determined that her injuries were fatal.
