Our awardee is a tireless educator who has made a lasting impression on the EMS community within the State and St. Louis Region. She has trained countless EMS clinicians. In addition, she serves as the EMS Fellowship Director at Washington University and is training the next generation of EMS Physicians.
Beyond her involvement in EMS education, she is an active operational medical director for Abbott EMS and Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District. She uses evidence-based medicine to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. In addition, she endeavors to provide the knowledge and skills that EMS clinicians need to provide the best possible patient care.
She is an excellent team member and possess the knowledge required to guide complex teams. The is demonstrated by her recent roll out of prehospital ECMO activation at Barnes-Jewish Hospital with Washington University Physicians.
In summary, she exemplifies everything we should celebrate in an EMS physician—scholarly, compassionate, forward-thinking, and deeply committed to advancing the sub-specialty of prehospital emergency medicine, and I can think of no one more deserving of the Physician of the Year Award.
