The UMKC School of Medicine EMS Education program is seeking a lead instructor for our Emergency Medical Technician program. This position is the face of our very successful EMT program. Teaching responsibilities include lectures and leading skills lab activities, collaboration with the program and medical directors to update and develop curriculum and monitor student progression, and coordinating clinical placements with the clinical coordinator. Course hours are Tuesday and Thursdays with one section meeting from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and an evening section meeting from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters. There is a summer academy with a teaching load of three days-per-week for nine weeks.
Applicants must have a Missouri paramedic license, with NREMT certification preferred. This position requires past completion of a 40-hour DOT EMS Instructor program of NAEMSE Level 1 Instructor course. An AHA instructor certification in BLS required, and ACLS instructor certification is preferred or will be provided after hire. National certification as an EMS educator (NCEE) is preferred. This is a non-benefits eligible position that pays $25.00/hour. Uniform shirts are provided and the EMS Education program will provide renewal of BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications at no charge.
