EMS Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the UMKC School of Medicine is a CAAHEP-accredited program providing initial education for Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. The program also provides BLS, ACLS, and PALS training to students, residents, faculty, and the community. Currently, the program is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following positions:
LEAD LAB INSTRUCTOR
Lead lab instructor for the Paramedic skills lab sessions that are held each Friday when the program is in session. In addition to a teaching and evaluation role, this position coordinates the activities of other instructors and guides the activities of each lab session. Opportunities to instruct in BLS, ACLS, and EMT labs are also available. Consistent availability on Fridays during business hours is required. This position is a part-time, non-benefits eligible adjunct instructor appointment that may be renewed annually. Candidates must possess the following qualifications for consideration: Missouri Paramedic license (National Registry certification is preferred); completion of a 40-hour DOT EMS Instructor course; current instructor certifications in BLS and ACLS (PALS preferred).
Lab instructors to teach skills labs and facilitate simulations in the EMT and Paramedic programs, as well as BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses as qualified. This position is a part-time, non-benefits eligible adjunct instructor appointment that may be renewed annually. Candidates for these positions will be licensed in the State of Missouri as a Paramedic (National Registry certification preferred), or Registered Nurse with prehospital or Emergency Department experience. Certification as a provider in BLS and ACLS is required. Instructor certifications in BLS and ACLS are preferred, and the program will provide instructor training to candidates who are otherwise highly qualified.
